One of the cruise lines which consistently enjoys support from MeetMeOnBoard LGBTQ cruise travel enthusiasts is Holland America Line. Holland America’s newest Pinnacle-class ship, Nieuw Statendam, is on her first sail from Rome and arriving in Fort Lauderdale on December 23, 2018. She sails with 2666 guests and like her sister, Koningsdam, features a curvy interior design inspired by musical instruments.
We have a soft spot for Holland America Line because it was our first exposure to cruise travel after we met over 30 years ago. Moreover, all of Mark’s grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from the Netherlands aboard HAL ships.
The ship will head to its summer homeport of the gay mecca, Amsterdam, in May and sail a series of northern Europe, Baltic and Iceland cruises before making its way to the Mediterranean in September for cruises out of Civitavecchia.
Onboard entertainment features the innovative Music Walk offering a variety of authentic live musical experiences and genres unlike any other at sea. You’ll find the new Rolling Stone Rock Room with classic rock hits; Lincoln Center Stage, with chamber music; Billboard Onboard, with chart-topping hits; and the popular B.B. King’s Blues Club, bringing the best of Memphis music to sea.
Many of our members have inquired about solo rooms on cruises, and they are indeed available on Nieuw Statendam. We see some excellent pricing on even her initial voyages, so we urge you to contact Adam for more details.
