Passengers aboard Pursuit will no longer hear the background hum of whirring slots, clinking tokens, shouts of joy at the roulette wheel or sobbing passengers at the blackjack tables. Since casinos can operate only in international waters, casino time is limited, so perhaps Azamara is rethinking the casino, especially on a line known for its numerous overnights and late nights.
Goodbye gambling. Hello bar and travel planning space.
The space previously used for gambling will be re-purposed as The Den Powered by Afar, a cooperative effort with the beautiful travel mag Afar. Afar’s upscale online presence should pair with Azamara like steak pairs with a great cabernet. Even more good news: The new space will feature a bar. While we’ve never been onboard casino aficionados, we’d chain ourselves to a favorite bar to prevent it from being closed!
In addition to a bar, The Den will include the Excursion Desk and the Loyalty/Sales area and the ability to relax with copies of Afar’s travel mag. The new space will build on the Explore Further and Destination Immersion philosophies that we at MMOB value so much about Azamara.
We’ll watch to see if this change is eventually instituted fleet wide. Whatever happens we look forward to seeing many MeetMeOnboard sailors on Azamara Journey on our MeetMeOnBoard group cruise to Cuba, sailing March 15-21, 2019.
